Coatepec, Ver., 24 de octubre de 2016.- Los huertos escolares son una opción para que las nuevas generaciones recuperen la relación con los alimentos. Consumir una legumbre, algún fruto o hierba que nosotros mismos hayamos sembrado, cuidado y cosechado sin duda sabrá mejor y será más saludable que cualquier producto que compremos en un supermercado.
Esto lo han entendido bien los estudiantes del CBTIS 165, de Coatepec, quienes además ofertan productos a base de las plantas medicinales que cosechan.
“Hasta ahora se han hecho dos siembras. La primera fue más hortaliza: jitomates, más cosas comestibles. Ahorita en esta parte que ya se terminaron algunas temporadas de esa siembra, ahora son puras plantas medicinales. Tenemos 44 especies de plantas”, destacó la encargada de estos huertos en este plantel, Diana Gisel Juanz Aguirre.
En una escuela, en un patio o azotea los huertos son además una forma de economizar parte de la soberanía alimentaria implementada cada vez por más personas.
“Tiene que ver con amortiguar toda una serie de consecuencias de la crisis económica, social, de la producción de alimentos y empezar a generar otro tipo de prácticas. De conexión con la naturaleza, con los alimentos frescos, de cómo hacer comunidad en torno al tema de la producción, revalorar los saberes campesinos. Un poco poner una pausa a los hábitos de consumo desmedidos y reflexionar de cómo llegan a nuestra mesa”, dijo Silvia Leticia Comunero Morales, integrante de la Red de Huertos Escolares y Comunitarios Xalapa-Coatepec.
Para analizar y seguir multiplicando esta opción con múltiples beneficios este fin de semana hortelanos de diferentes países se reunieron en la localidad Consolapa, en el Encuentro Internacional de Huertos Escolares.
