Ciudad de México, 22 de febrero de 2017.- México no aceptará disposiciones unilaterales del gobierno de Estados Unidos en materia migratoria y acudirá a los organismos multilaterales para defender los derechos humanos de los connacionales en el exterior, particularmente en el vecino país.
Así lo afirmó el secretario de Relaciones Exteriores, Luis Videgaray Caso, en el marco de firma de un Acuerdo entre México y la Oficina del Alto Comisionado de la ONU para los Derechos Humanos.
El canciller se refirió en esa ceremonia a la visita a nuestro país de los secretarios estadounidenses de Estado, Rex Tillerson, y de Seguridad Interior, John F. Kelly, así como a las disposiciones en materia migratoria emitidos por el Gobierno de Estados Unidos que prevén la contratación de 15 mil policías migratorios y que abre la puerta a deportaciones masivas de connacionales.
Señaló que “inevitablemente y por convicción” esas disposiciones serán el primer punto a tratar con los funcionarios estadounidenses y adelantó:
“Quiero dejar claro y de la manera más enfática que el gobierno de México y el pueblo de México no tienen por qué aceptar disposiciones que de manera unilateral un gobierno le quiera imponer a otro, eso no lo vamos a aceptar porque no tenemos por qué hacerlo y porque no es en el interés de México”.
Agregó que el gobierno de México “no habrá de dudar en acudir a los organismos internacionales empezando por las Naciones Unidas para defender conforme al derecho internacional, los derechos humanos, las libertades y el debido proceso en favor de los mexicanos en el exterior”.
En ese contexto señaló que México actuará “por todos los medios jurídicamente posibles para la defensa de los derechos humanos de los mexicanos en el exterior, particularmente en los Estados Unidos”, lo que implica una campaña de información para que los conozcan sus derechos y sepan cómo actuar ante posibles violaciones a su dignidad y a sus derechos humanos.
Dichas acciones incluyen, precisó, “actuar por la vía jurídica con absoluto respeto al Estado de Derecho en los Estados Unidos, acudiendo a las instancias jurisdiccionales tanto en casos individuales como en casos colectivos”.
Adelantó que la cancillería trabaja ya en casos, algunos conocidos por medios de comunicación, “que representan en nuestra opinión violaciones al distinto proceso e incluso violaciones a los derechos humanos”.
