El Licenciado Pedro Joaquin Coldwell, quien junto con el Ministro de Energía de Estados Unidos, Ernest Moniz, y los titulares de los organismos reguladores de ambos países, firmaron el documento Principios de Confiabilidad Eléctrica entre México y Estados Unidos.
“Con la firma del documento damos otro paso significativo en esta fecunda cooperación binacional, estableciendo las bases para asegurar el funcionamiento de nuestros sistemas, el intercambio regular de fluido eléctrico, y la previsión de contingencias que pudieran presentarse para la afectación del servicio”, dijo el Titular de la Secretaría de Energía (SENER).
Al participar en la firma, el Titular de la SENER aseguró que los principios refrendados serán implementados a través de la Corporación Norteamericana de Confiabilidad Eléctrica (NERC) y agregó que “a lo largo de estos cuatro años, hemos desarrollado con Estados Unidos una intensa y estratégica relación, a través de diversos mecanismos bilaterales, multilaterales y regionales de cooperación”.
Durante su intervención, el Secretario Ernest Moniz se refirió a la fortaleza de la relación entre ambas naciones en materia energética, la cual, indicó, se debe a una verdadera voluntad interna y destacó que la Reforma mexicana que actualmente se implementa en México es histórica. Moniz comentó que es indispensable mantener esta relación de colaboración.
En la firma de este convenio entre ambas naciones participaron Norman Bay, Presidente de la Comisión Federal Reguladora de Energía de los Estados Unidos; Guillermo García Alcocer, Comisionado Presidente de la Comisión Reguladora de Energía (CRE) y Eduardo Meraz Ateca, Director General del Centro Nacional de Control de Energía (CENACE). El evento contó también con la presencia de la embajadora de Estados Unidos en México, Roberta Jacobson.
