El rector de la UNAM, Enrique Graue Wiechers, y el presidente de la Universidad Mohammed V de Rabat, Marruecos, Saaid Amzazi, signaron un convenio de colaboración para establecer, de manera paralela, las cátedras Graciela Hierro y Fátima Mernissi, sobre Derechos Humanos e Igualdad de Género.
La UNAM tiene interés en estudiar temas actuales de las sociedades árabes, así como fortalecer la concepción humanista de las mujeres, de proyectar y divulgar la igualdad de género, y de promoverla en Iberoamérica, afirmó Graue.
Graciela Hierro Pérezcastro fundó el Programa Universitario de Estudios de Género (PUEG) de la UNAM y quien introdujo el feminismo como objeto de estudio de la filosofía mexicana. Propuso una concepción que contribuyera a que las mujeres reflexionaran acerca de la posesión y control de su cuerpo, sus placeres y sus productos.
Con la cátedra extraordinaria Fátima Mernissi se buscará educar y concientizar desde la perspectiva de los derechos humanos, y a través de estudios de índole lingüístico, jurídico, social, antropológico y cultural, la realidad de las sociedades árabes contemporáneas.
Además, de ser un espacio para la enseñanza y la reflexión del legado de Mernissi, escritora, Premio Príncipe de Asturias y una de las figuras más importantes para el pensamiento feminista contemporáneo de Marruecos.
En gira de trabajo por ese país, el rector Graue dictará ante la comunidad académica de la Universidad Mohammed V la conferencia magistral: Función social de la universidad en los países emergentes y la ventana de oportunidad que ofrece la cooperación académica México Marruecos.
Acompañado por el titular de la coordinación de las Humanidades, Alberto Vital Díaz ,se reunirá con el presidente del Consejo Económico y Social de Marruecos, Nizar Baraka; el presidente del Senado, Hakim Benchamach y el presidente de la Comisión de Derechos Humanos, Driss El Yazami; así como con la directora del Centro de Estudios Femeninos en el Islam, Asma Lamrabet; el presidente de la Academia del Reino de Marruecos, Abdeljelil Lahjomri; y el embajador de México en esa nación, Juan Andrés Ordóñez Gómez.
