De acuerdo con datos de la Asociación de Productores y Empacadores Exportadores de Aguacate de México (APEAM), México, principal productor de aguacate en el mundo, exportó 100 mil toneladas de este producto, que representan 250 millones de dólares en venta. Durante las casi tres horas de transmisión del partido, se estima que serán consumidas 35 mil toneladas de guacamole, favorito de millones de familias en la Unión Americana.
México es líder en producción y exportación de aguacate a nivel mundial con un millón 694 mil toneladas. Además, realiza exportaciones de aguacate a 34 países, siendo Estados Unidos el principal mercado.
Las exportaciones mexicanas de aguacate a Estados Unidos alcanzaron, de enero a noviembre de 2016, las 711 mil 766 toneladas, con un valor estimado en mil 610 millones de dólares, según la Secretaría de Agricultura. Mientras que las exportaciones de aguacate mexicano al mundo se incrementaron 18.6 por ciento entre enero y noviembre de 2016, en comparación con el mismo periodo del año previo.
Las cinco principales entidades productoras de aguacate, conocido como el “oro verde”, son Michoacán, Jalisco, Estado de México, Nayarit y Morelos.
