Dijo que en la mesa de trabajo en la que participó con el secretario de Economía, Ildefonso Guajardo, y funcionarios de alto nivel de la nueva administración estadounidense hubo “conversaciones de trabajo positivas y alentadoras”, pero que también fue propicia para expresar “grave extrañamiento” y preocupación por señales como las órdenes ejecutivas firmadas por el presidente Trump en materia migratoria y para la construcción de un muro fronterizo, “que no corresponden con las expresiones positivas de México al pueblo y gobierno de Estados Unidos”.

En contraste, destacó que en su mensaje vespertino el presidente Trump hizo comentarios “alentadores” para México como la detención del flujo de armas a nuestro país provenientes de territorio estadounidense y el deseo de que tengamos una economía “firme y estable”, posicionamientos que, destacó, tuvieron impacto positivo en el tipo de cambio y que “pueden significar posibilidad de avance en temas sustantivos”.

Detalló que este jueves la delegación mexicana, de la que es parte, sostendrá reuniones de trabajo con funcionarios del gobierno estadounidense para, finalmente, regresar a México por la tarde o noche a fin de informar directamente al presidente Peña Nieto los resultados obtenidos y “para definir la estrategia a seguir”.
