La Secretaría de Agricultura, Ganadería, Desarrollo Rural, Pesca y Alimentación (SAGARPA) informó que el tequila “Hecho en México” ya es comercializado en 98 países, con ventas que alcanzan un volumen superior a los 196 millones 736 mil litros en 2016 y un valor estimado en mil 203 millones de dólares.
De acuerdo con la SAGARPA, con base en estadísticas del Consejo Regulador del Tequila (CRT) y el Sistema de Información Arancelaria Vía Internet (SIAVI), las ventas aumentaron 8.5 por ciento en volumen y 1.4 por ciento en términos de valor.
De 2014 a 2016, las exportaciones de este producto promediaron mil 187 millones de dólares y 188. 9 millones de litros.
Los principales destinos de exportación de tequila mexicano son Estados Unidos, Alemania, España, Francia, Japón, Reino Unido, Sudáfrica, Colombia, Canadá y Brasil.
Estos 10 países concentran alrededor de 92.4 por ciento de las exportaciones que realiza México de esta bebida a nivel mundial, el resto se divide en 88 naciones más a las que es enviado el tequila.
En Estados Unidos, fueron comercializados 160 millones 985 mil litros; Alemania, cinco millones 320 mil; España, tres millones 823 mil litros; Francia, tres millones 180 mil litros, y Japón, un millón 757 mil litros.
El valor total de las exportaciones de tequila a estos cinco destinos fue de mil 31 millones de dólares durante el año pasado.
Los crecimientos más importantes en adquisiciones de tequila se registraron en Alemania, nación que aumentó sus compras en 136 por ciento; Colombia, 59.6 por ciento; Reino Unido 42 por ciento, y Canadá, 20.6 por ciento.
En el caso de China, uno de los mercados más recientes de tequila, las ventas a este destino se incrementaron en 8.5 por ciento entre 2015 y 2016, al pasar de 2.5 a 2.7 millones de dólares.
En lo que corresponde a la producción, se alcanzó en 2016 un volumen de 273.3 millones de litros, un aumento a tasa anual de 19.6 por ciento.
Entre 2013 y 2016, el promedio de producción de tequila en México se ubicó en 242.6 millones de litros, con una Tasa Media de Crecimiento Anual para este periodo de 4.8 por ciento.
Cabe señalar que el tequila cuenta con un certificado de Denominación de Origen, mediante el cual sólo puede producirse en 181 municipios de cinco estados del país, en Jalisco con sus 125 municipios; Nayarit ocho; Guanajuato, siete; Tamaulipas, 11, y Michoacán, 30 municipios.
